Chris Chope was one of thirty eight Conservative MPs who supported the amendment to the Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill on Tuesday 10th March.
The amendment required the Government to prevent high risk vendors, of which Huawei is one, from being used beyond 31st December 2022 for telecoms infrastructure.
Chris commented,
‘Although the amendment was not successful, I am confident that the Government is now being forced to listen to the concerns of so many MPs and their constituents about the Huawei threat to our national security. No constituent has written to me in support of Huawei which speaks for itself’.
