Chris Chope’s letter in The Times on Monday 18th June, in which he demanded that the Government bring in its own Bill to criminalise the practice of upskirting has received a positive response.  The Government published its own Bill on Thursday 21st June, the text of which is different from the original Private Members Bill.  Chris Chope commented “This is a vindication of my actions in Parliament to ensure that legislation is properly debated and scrutinised.  I much appreciate the widespread support which I have received for defending this important aspect of Parliamentary democracy.”
