Free guided tours of Parliament are available to constituents.
The walking tour of the Palace of Westminster normlly takes between 70 and 90 minutes and includes:
- Westminster Hall, the ancient hall at the heart of the Palace where Parliament first sat and where many historicevents have taken place.
- The House of Commons, including the Speaker's Chair and the famous green benches and the 'lobbies' where MPs actually vote.
- The House of Lords, including the Royal Throne.
- The Queen's Room, Royal Gallery and mant other fascinating parts of the Palace of Westminster.
As tours are very popular, places generally need to be booked far in advance. In the first instance please write to Chris with your contact details and preferred times and dates.
The Elizabeth Tower is the name of the famous tower of Parliament - more popularly known as Big Ben. Although often referred to as Big Ben, this is actually the nickname of the bell housed within the Elizabeth Tower - and Big Ben's official name is the Great Bell.
Big Ben Tours are free of charge and take place Monday - Friday at the set times of:
- 9.00am
- 11.00am
- 2.00pm
There is also a 4.00pm tour from May to September.
Chris has arranged many tours for Christchurch constituents but cannot do this when Parliament is in dissolution.
